Walking by the baseball field today and say a coach doing soft-toss with his players to warm them up before the game. That's great, except they were hitting the balls into the fence surrounding the ball park. The fence was bulging out from the impact of today's balls and probably years of the same practice. Why is this a problem you may ask? Well, beyond the fact that there are signs posted prohibiting this behavior and that the school district may revoke the use of the fields if it continues, there is a safety concern. Because of the momentum of thousands of balls being hit into the middle of the fence, the bottom is curling up and out towards the field. This means a player who is running for a ball in foul territory could, potentially dive or fall and land on that upturned fence that is now exposed.
Coaches, get a pop-up net from us and you'll never have to have players hit into fences again. And you'll look and feel much more professional, which will rub off on your players. Plus, the quality of their practice will improve dramatically.
